I've always seen a line out the door for this place and finally got a chance to try. My friends and I came Sunday for lunch and luckily no wait. There's many options on the menus both spicy&numbing and not spicy. Everything we ordered was great and the presentation of the food was phenomenal. Also fyi the numbing chicken comes out green (instead of red which you might be used to) because of the scallion they blend into the sauce. Huge fan and I'll be back in the future to try some of their other dishes!

Seeing the Saint Mark's location, I was hesitant to believe the 5 star reviews. Forget what you knew about the neighborhood - it has transformed into a little Asia. Tons of restaurants transport you from NYC. Szechuan Mountain House is the pinnacle of that. We enjoyed the mapo tofu and a fish soup and pea shoots. Everything was very delicious & spicy hot. (I expect the mango dessert spot next door gets a lot of business from people looking to cool down their mouth.)

Second time at this restaurant and it continues to be one of my fave chinese restaurants ive tried in the states ever! the food is always so flavorful and authentic and the prices are very fair for nyc. We got the house chili chicken, the jianbei fish, and the sizzling tofu. The tofu was the standout dish for me this time and the flavor and crispy skin reminded me of roast duck (yes i am the friend lol and i am canto~) Their decorations are beautiful (even the moist napkins they give are in a cute packaging like old chinese bookbinding) and our waitresses were very attentive and helpful! 10/10 must try

Best Szechuan spot out there, and it's also on the NYT top 100 list! Food and portion sizes are great. Filet fish stews were great, get the tomato fish soup too. Loved the fried rice, and service is also amazing. Seating is plentiful and nice. Caution to make sure not to eat any green-chilis that look suspiciously like string beans. Whenever I'm here this is where I go.
